Laughing Deeply

I'll keep this short and sweet. Getting close to midnight here.

I like this sketch of Claudia's for the Friday Sketchers #45 challenge. Any sketch with a circle gives me a chance to put a sitting Tilda in it. Haven't had a chance to use this stamp before. I got this stamp because whenever I give a card to a close friend or relative, I sign it off with "lots of love and laughter"--don't you just love the alliteration? That's become my signature sign-off. This Tilda image is just perfect. And I found a set of clear stamps with quotes on laughter (and fun)--also perfect.

Hope you like the card.

Hello Hello

I thought I would do a card based on this sketch from Papertake Weekly Challenge--Dawnys Sketch #11. It's a fabulous sketch.

This is what I ended up with. Hmmm...I'm still not sure if I'm pleased with it or not. Lots of colours there, maybe too much. 3 different designer papers, all colourful. I think next time I'd make one of them plainer. You don't really get the full effect until you look at the finished card. By then, it's way way too late to change anything--everything's glued on!

I had to improvise with the bench that Tilda is sitting on. I had to make it go off the page. It's actually a Christmas bench and there's a cluster of 2 huge holly leaves and berries at the left-hand side of the bench which I really didn't want on this card.

Hope you like the card. Thanks for dropping by my blog.

Edwin Goes Mushroom Picking

First of all, I must tell you about the Magnolia Blog Candy Give Away by Claudia at her blog Pretty Pressings. You really must take a look at her site. You will be amazed. I mean simply amazed. She is one very talented lady. All her cards are simply gorgeous. I learned so much from visiting her blog.

Now on to the challenge at Bizzy Becs. The challenge is simply to create a male card. "It can have any Male theme or image stamped on it. It can be any colour. This one is totally up to you.. Must show some METAL somewhere.. " Perfect! As my brother's birthday is coming up in April, this card will go out to him.

This is the first chance I get of using these stamp (actually for most of my stamps, as I've just recently acquired my Magnolia stamps). The stamp is called Edwin picking mushrooms. I also found the perfect Metal piece for this card (at Michaels), a charm of what else...mushroom! So here's my card. Taa daa.....

The idea for this card actually came from Claudia's blog. She calls this type of cards "buckle cards". I like it--it's different. I think I must do another buckle card and this time using a Tilda image.

Pink Ballerina

(It's my birthday! Happy Birthday to me! LOL. I guess it's not really appropriate to wish yourself a happy birthday, is it? Oh well.)

I've created a card for Kellie-and-her-DT-ladies-down-under's challenge. This week's theme is: BLING It On!
Great! I've got lots of blings (rhinestones, glitters, etc.) in my stash of embelishments.

As I was walking to work yesterday morning, my head full of layouts, DP's, stamps, etc., I came up with a sketch and this is the card for it. Turned out a bit different than what I envisioned in my head, but it always does, really. I find when I'm actually creating the card that this or that won't work so I have to adjust.

I had a bit of trouble colouring as I couldn't find any marker that matches exactly the shade of green that's in the designer papers, so I just hoped that what I ended up with would look okay.

I used micro glitter on Tilda's tutu. I used my Quickie Glue Stick Pen from Sakura to go over the entire tutu, dump the glitter over the area and shook off the access glitter. The glue dries clear and I used the transparent Cool Highlight micro-fine glitter, so the colour from the marker shows through. Micro glitter is great to work with, but can be a bit messy and no matter how careful you are, you find yourself walking around all day with glitter all over your clothes.
Hope you have a wonderful day!

Purple-Heart Jumper Tilda

Happy Monday!

I'll keep this short as I'm posting this before I have to go to work this morning.

I’ve created this card simply because I wanted to make another card using the Heart Jumper Tilda (from Magnolia). I like this image very much--haven’t gotten tired of it yet. However the card also seem to meet the requirement of the challenge at A Spoon Full of Sugar, which simply asks you to use Gem's on your cards. So this card is for their Challenge 43.

Happy Spring - Bloom

A happy Sunday to everyone!

I’ve finished my card for the Mojo Monday Week 78 sketch challenge. I’m cutting it a bit close here. I have to post this today before they close their Mr. Linky.

This is the sketch to be used:

This sketch simply cries out to me to make a waterfall card. If you’ve never made this type of card, it takes a bit more planning, but it’s fun to do. And what’s more, it’s fun for the recipient--he/she can play with it!!

This is the card I came up with:

To see how this card works, see this 14-second video:

If you're like me, as when I first saw a waterfall card, you'll just want to go to your craft table and create one yourself. I learned how to make this type of card a few years ago. There are any number of websites that give you the tutorial on how to do this. Just google it.
Hope you're enjoying your weekend. Bye!

Happy Easter

A good Saturday morning!

Here's my Happy Easter card. I made this one for Diana's March challenge at Magnolia-licous using the sketch provided.

Here's Diana's sketch:Took artistic licence and substituted the oval with and an Easter egg-- neat huh?--LOL. I used my circle and oval Coluzzle templates to cut out the egg. One side is half a circle, the other side is half an oval.
I'm using what I consider to be Easter colours here, purple and yellow. Does the purple look bluish to you though? Hmmm...it really is purple. I'm hoping it's just due to the lighting and not my camera.

Much to do today, so signing off now. Bye.

PS. okay, so I did something that took away that "comment" word where you can click to leave comments. I'll have to figure out how to put it back on. Yikes! Haven't got a clue.

Heart Jumper Tilda

Hello!

I just found the Magnolia Down Under Challenge blog yesterday. I’m just crazy about those Tilda images, so finding this blogsite was very welcome.

So, this was a very quick card for me to do, as I had a deadline to meet. It’s Friday morning here, but isn’t it Saturday already down under? Gosh! I had to stop working with the card I was currently doing and to start and finish a new one last night.

On to the Magnolia Down Under Challenge #3…
The challenge is….
- Must have at least one yellow ribbon.
- Has to be Tilda.
- And last of all has to have a flower.

Despite my bleary eyes this morning, this was fun to do. I used a sketch that’s one of my favorites. I’ve used this sketch in a number of cards and it’s worked well for me. Maybe I’ll post those cards here in the future.

I was trying to come up with colour combinations that go well with yellow. I thought of yellow and purple, which I considered to be Easter colours—perfect for this time of year. But I used them in an Easter card I’ve just finished doing—it’s still to be posted (and I’ll do that next). I went through my stash of DP’s and found these ones. You can call them spring colours I guess (really, they’re baby colours: pink, blue and yellow) and since this is the first day of spring (at least up here), I’ll call this one my Happy Spring card. Hmm… maybe I should have included that sentiment somewhere on the card. Oh well. Anyway, hope you like the card.

Thanks for stopping by. Weekend’s coming up…yeah! I’ll have to do some work on my blog. Still finding out how to do stuff. Bye for now.

My Second Blog Card

Hello! Here's a card I made for the Friday Sketchers Challenge 43.

I saw a designer paper (from Basic Grey) and the colour combination intrigued me. I would never have thought that these 2 colours, a sort of olive shade and a really dark brown, would go well together. But it grew on me the more times I looked at the paper. So I thought let's go with it and see if it works.

If you like my big white flower, I made it using daisy punches of 3 different sizes. Punch out 2 daisies of each size. Then with a small scissor make slashes in each of the petals. Curl the edges up and shade them. Stack the daisies and put a large brad through their centres. It’s a bit more work, but I think it looks nice.

My First Blog Card

This is for Mojo Monday Sketch Challenge. Decided to join in the game, but yikes, I have to create a blogspot! I am so computer illiterate. I am not a blogger at all (for now). I am muddling through this--LOL. Spring break's coming up, so maybe one of my nieces will have time to help me with prettying up this site. Anyway, so so sorry this site is bare, bare, bare of info for now. Am just setting it up so I can submit my card.
