Creative Inspiration Challenge 35

Happy happy weekend!

The weather had been springlike...well, what do you expect, it's spring here!...LOL. We've had a mixture of rain and sun. My seeds are happy--I've got beet, radish and squash seeds sprouting!!!

I was given the opportunity to be a Guest DT...woo hoo...for a couple of weeks at the Creative Inspirations Challenge Blog, for the current challenge and the next one. The theme for this challenge is stitching, real or faux--and I did both! Here is my guest DT card.

This adorable image is Magnolia's Tilda with the Spring Bundle. For a more 3-D look, I've cut her out and then mounted her on some foam tape/dimensionals. I had to cut her spring flowers as a bundle, because there is no way was I going to even attempt cutting the stems individually...LOL. The butterflies are a late addition..ahem..the picture of the card at CIC actually doesn't have them.

I love this colour combo of blue and brown, one of my favorites. I am using this card as my entry to the Fun with Shapes and More Challenge # 55 - My favorite colours.

Another challenge: Passion for Promarkers - Week 53 - Anything Goes. And it's also their anniversary week. Congrats ladies!

And another challenge: Stamping for the Weekend - Challenge 39 - Post Pals, card/project to make someone smile or cheer them up!

And since I have butterflies on my card, this goes into the Flutter By Wednesday's Challenge 111 - anything goes, the challenge is open.
I've decorated the inside of my card in my usual way--that is if it's not an easel card...or a side-step card...or a tri-shutter card...or... Well, you know what I mean.

Enjoy you weekend! I hope the weather turns out fine wherever you are. Thanks for dropping by.

Stamp: Magnolia Tilda with Spring Bundle and Longing Tilda.
DP's: The Paper Loft Trellis and Hankie.
Tools used: Spellbinders Nestabilities Scallops, Ovals and Peoni.
EK Success flower punch, flower punches from Michaels $1.50 bin, McGill twig punch, Martha Stewart butterfly punch.
Misc.: Queen & Co. pearls, Kaiser Craft Pearls, Michaels rhinestones, distressing done with Tim Holtz vintage photo ink pad.

Warm Holiday Wishes

It's the 25th of May and it's time for another card for our Christmas All Year Long Group of the Magnolia-licious Yahoo Group. This is also our monthly Christmas Blog Hop. You can find a list of the participants at the Christmas Group's blog here. The hop starts from Julie's blog. Julie organizes our group--thanks, Julie. If you're following the blog hop, you would have come here after visiting Monique.

Here is my card.

I love this adorable image from Magnolia's So Jolly Collection 2009. She is called Silent Night Tilda.

I have used this sketch of Jane's that she has created for this week's challenge at Just Magnolia. I've rotated the sketch by 90 degrees.

Other challenges:
Charisma Cardz Challenge #20 - their theme is 3D.
Creative Inspirations Challenge #34 - punches or die cuts.
Susie & Vikki's Christmas Christmas Club Challenge 18 - Anything Christmas.

I've made this into an easel card. The Tilda that you see in front is cut out and mounted on foam tape. You can see this better from the angle in the picture below if you blow it up.

To go with the sentiment 'Warm Holiday Wishes'...hee hee...I've hung a pair of mittens on one of the snowflakes.

I've added gold glitter to the ribbons. Crystal or clear glitter I've added to the snowflakes and swirls in the background.
That's it! To continue on with the blog hop, your next visit is at Patricia's. Thanks for visiting and have a wonderful day!

Stamp: Magnolia Silent Night Tilda, Inkadinkadoo Holiday stamp set Snowflake Trails.

DP's: Chatterbox Guest Plaid, Provo Craft Gingerbread Check, self-made DP with watercolour wash sprinkled with salt.

Tools: Spellbinders Nestabilities Labels Four, Martha Stewart snowflake punches.

Embelishments: Vintage Attic Treasures pearls, Karen Foster Design mini charms Wintertime.

Something Special for Sis – a never-ending card

Have you ever made a never-ending card before? If not, you have got to try this!!!

I first saw this card on Pam Sparks' blog. She made a Christmas never-ending card back in November last year. Yes, it has taken me this long to get one done! Pam also gave me a link to a video of this card that she liked. And from there, there are links to tutorials on the card. You don’t have to decorate it very elaborately. You can do a simple one with just designer papers and sentiments if you like, but you really should try to make one--at least once, just to see how the mechanic works. Who ever thought of this is a genius! And it is so much fun!!!

To really appreciate how this card works, you have to watch this video. Don't worry...it's only a short one...38 seconds long!! I've only done 3 full rotations of the card. But of course you can go on forever with it, that's why they call it a never-ending card...LOL. Sorry, but the images in the video aren't too clear, okay?--I don't have a camcorder. I used my camera instead.

And here are the 4 faces of my card in still life.

Glitters used on the head bands and the ribbons around the flower bouquet.

Sorry for the fingers...hee hee. I was trying to keep the card flat for the picture taking.

More glitter used on the big bow and the halo. On the last panel, I've shifted Tilda to the bottom corner so I can have some blank space to write my personal message to my sister.

I have made my card bigger than my usual 6 square inches. The sizes of your images determine the size of your card. Your card will be double the height of your tallest image.

I searched through my Magnolia stamp collection and look for all the small/short ones. The tallest of these will fit into a panel that is 3 1/2 inches high. Double that, and my card is a 7-inch square. Man, I’d like to get my hands on those mini Magnolia stamps that I believe you can only get at trade shows. Then I can do my usual 6"x6” cards. Hmm…maybe some generous souls will stamp me some images…LOL. If you have digi stamps, that’s just perfect to use, as you can size down your images to fit into your panels.

I went all out for this one. I’ ve got 10—count them—10 Maggies. This card is for someone very special to me, my sister and my best friend. I tell her she is my favorite sister…hee hee…she is also my only sister…LOL. I don’t know how she puts up with me. This is actually a belated birthday card. A very very very belated birthday card!!! I’m too ashamed to tell you when her birthday was.
I'm using this card as my entry into a few challenges:
A Spoon Full of Sugar - Challenge 104 - Cute & Girly
Crafty Creations - Challenge 67 - Encouragement/Celebration

That’s it for my card. Go ahead and try making one yourself. It’s very easy to do. Here’s a link to one of the tutorials that are available on the internet.

Thanks for dropping by for a visit. Would love to hear your comments on my card.

Magnolia Stamps: Tilda with Vintage Roses, Midsummer Tilda, Jam Tilda, Tilda with Three Flowers, Blueberry Tilda, Unwrapped Tilda, Chef Edwin, Chef Tilda, Wrapped Tilda and Sparkling Tilda.

Congrats on Retirement

Hello!

I've made this card for a co-worker in the office where I work. He's retiring in June. I have used an In2stamps image called Ratcliffe's Jump Of Joy from their new April Releases Collection. You can purchase this stamps from the In2stamps on-line store. I thought this is just the perfect image for a celebration. If I was the one who was retiring, I would surely be jumping for joy myself...LOL. (sigh) All that extra time to do my crafting...at least that's the myth, right?

This card is my entry to a few challenges:
Sketch and Stash Challenge 35 - I am using Lorraine's sketch shown here.
A Spoon Full of Sugar Challenge 103 - a recipe challenge to use 3 designer papers and 3 buttons.
Colour Create Challenge 44 - colours are khaki, aqua, brown and cream.
Night Shift Stamping Challenge 15 - Männerkarte.
Stamp Something - Celebrate Something Challenge.

Thanks so much for dropping by.

Stamps: In2stamps Ratcliffe's Jump Of Joy from the April Releases Collection; the sentiment is computer generated.

DP's: Fiskars Heidi Grace Design Paisley, 2 papers from DCWV Holiday Stack.
Tools: Spellbinders Nestabilities Large and Small Ovals, Big Shot.

Misc.: Vintage Attic pearls, ribbon and buttons from my stash.

Baby Card in a Box (Gift Box)

Hello! Happy midweek!

I have made something different than just a card this time.

I found this scrapbooking book at our library--don't you just libraries?…all those free books to look through. It's titled "Outstanding Mini Albums: 50 Ideas For Creating Mini Scrapbooks" by Jessica Acs. One of her projects is this box that she had made and turned into sort of a mini scrapbook. Inside the box, she had made pockets for the 4 sides and you can slip your photos inside the pockets. It's a really neat idea! I took her project and made my own version of a card-in-a-box. Not sure what Jessica’s dimensions are, but I had to make the sides of my box large enough to accommodate the In2stamps images which are between 3 – 4 inches. So the box is a 4-inch cube, made out of a single 12”x12” cardstock.

On the outside, the box looks like this.

And you have your card in the inside when you take off the lid.

I have used three images from the In2stamps Baby Collection. This first one is called Angel Boy.

This second image is called Flower Girl. I confess! I couldn't decide which gender of baby I should make this for.

And this third image is called Caterpillar Kisses.

I could have used another image for the 4th side, but I decided to make this a blank space to write personal messages instead.

You can leave this card simply as a card-in-a-box, but the box is also big enough to double as a gift box. So you can put a little present inside.

To make it easier when closing the box, I used a couple of those fancy paper clips to hold the sides together.

I am using this project to enter a couple of challenges:

Creative Inspirations Challenge 33 - Congratulations
Fun with Shapes and More Challenge 52 - Pastel Inks

Oh, one more thing...I have no idea how you're supposed to mail this out...LOL. I think I would probably make this if I was sure I can hand-deliver it.

Stamps: From In2stamps Baby Collection (which can be purchased from their on-line store here).
Designer Papers: K & Company Garden Medley Stripe Printed Embossed Paper, from Chatterbox Scrapbook Walls Collection: Sky Cottage, Sky Cottage Plaid and Rosey Cottage.
Tools: Spellbinders Nestabilities Labels Three.

Edwin in Pink?

Hello! Happy Friday!

A quick posting here before I have to leave for work. I can't believe I actually finished a card during the weekdays!!! Woo hoo. It's probably because I don't have to add any flower to this one. Yup, it's a male card!

I used this sketch from Sketch Saturday created by Maya for their Week #101.

The card also for the following challenges:
Cute Card Thursday - Challenge 111 - Boyz to Men!
Simon Says - Birthdays/Celebrations
Stamping for the Weekend - A Card for a Male
Stamp Something - Birthday Somethings Challenge

Okay, the colour isn't actually pink, it just looks pink in the picture. The colour combo I was going for was grey and maroon. I just ended up with a very light maroon colour that it looks pink...LOL.

That's it. Thanks so much for visiting. I appreciate it. Appreciate more if you can leave me a comment--who wouldn't...LOL. Ta ta for now.

Stamps: Magnolia Fall Edwin, Fence.
DP's: from Hot Off the Press Paper Pizazz Sheets Joy's Vintage Papers and Mixing Masculine Papers.
Tools: EK Success border punch Morrocan.

Magic among the lily pads

Hello! I hope you have enjoyed your weekend.

I have another easel card here. I just adore the images from the Magnolia's Fairy Tale Collection. Tilda just keeps getting cuter with each new collection. The image I have used for this card is called Fairy Tale Tilda.

For the layout of the card, I used Bev's sketch that she's created for Just Magnolia's Week 53 Challenge .

And here are a list of other challenges for this card:

Everybody-Art-Challenge #88 - Song Title. I think the song "Do you Believe in Magic?" fits the bill, don't you?

Stamping for the Weekend - Getting to Know You. The book that inspired this, of course, is the fairy tale The Frog Prince.

The waterlilies were created to meet the theme for two challenges:

Papertake Weekly Challenge - Do something different, and
Cute Card Thursday - Challenge 110 - Make your Own!
Yes, I made these flowers!!! And I am quite pleased with them. I haven't done waterlilies before. I wanted to get it just right that I even went to the library and took out a book on waterlilies with tons of pictures in it. What do you think?

A Spoon Full of Sugar - Their Challenge 101 is to 3D Something.

Charisma Cardz Challenges - the theme for their Challenge 17 is Girly Card with Flowers.
Creatalicious Challenges - Challenge #9 - Create Something with Flowers and Wings

Crafts and Me - Challenge #3 - Sparkles. Lots of glitter on the card. You can probably see it better on this close up. Glitter on the DP's, on Tilda's wings, on the Frog Prince's crown, outlining the inner circle and on the stars in the background.

Thank you so much for stopping by. Have a good week !
