I've got my order of new stamps to use, woo hoo--old and new images. For this card I chosen an old image of Paris Tilda--new to me though.

This card was made for the Stamp With Fun challenge, using Nikki's sketch shown at the right here.
Instead of putting 3 large flowers as shown on the sketch, I've decided to use a sprinkle of small flowers for a change.

Sea Breeze

Happy Friday! I'm making this posting short and sweet.

This card is for the Magnolia Down Under Challenge. The theme for their Challenge #13 is: Under the Sea. Now, I don't have a Tilda image that's "under the sea", so I just went and had fun with this one. I've put Tilda as close to the sea as I can without going under, hee hee, and that's "at the beach." I've also dressed Tilda in her beach outfit--LOL. Oh well, I'm no dress designer that's for sure.
I made the border using a decorative scissor with a wavy pattern for the ocean waves. The sand coloured paper is edge-torn--don't know if you can see that from the picture-- to make it looked like waves washing on the seashore.

Ladybug, ladybug ...

A good Monday morning to all! I haven't been very productive in making cards these last few days. I was occupied with making a gate. (What's that, you say? You can read about it at the end of this post if you're interested.)

Anyway I managed to get at least one card done. Finished this one last night.

This card was done using this wonderful sketch provide by Heidi for the Friday Sketchers #53

challenge.

I'm using the Tilda with Ladybug image from the Chasing Butterflies Collection--she's just sooo.... adorable.

I also remembered that I have a similar stamp from Penny Black with a hedgehog holding a ladybug. So I've added that image to the card and made this card for the Penny Black Saturday Challenge also. Their Challenge 50 for this week is: Buttons Galore.

And I've done the inside of the card this way.

Now to that gate I was talking about. You can skip this part by the way-- nothing to do with cards. I have a small garden plot in a community garden, measured 4 feet x 12 feet. There are 5 sections of about a dozen plots in each. My plot is in Section 5. Each section is fenced in, but there's a garden gate that you go through. Our gate was literally falling apart and I've volunteered to make a new gate, as I'm somewhat handy with a hammer and nails. (I wonder whose bright idea that was!!!! LOL) Anyway, that's what I've been busy with these past few days.

I've taken a picture of the new gate. I took it at an angle so my plot is showing in the background. It's the one with that huge bush of rhubarbs (in front of the car) and you can see the purple flowers from the chives.

Well, I did say you can skip this part.

Celebrate

Hello everyone! I've created this card for 2 challenge blogs.

A Spoon Full of Sugar is celebrating their one-year birthday and their theme for their Challenge #52 is: Celebration. "We would like you to create a card for a Celebration..... any celebration will do... Birthday, Anniversary, Baby Announcement.... anything goes!"

For this card I am using the wonderful sketch provided for Just Magnolia Week 5 Challenge. I like this sketch very much. I will use it again in the future.

Okay, another differrent type of flowers (my sister is going to love this-- LOL). You can probably figure out how to make them. 3 different size daisies. For each size simply punch one white and one of another colour, but....(there's always a but...hee hee) you have to fold each petal or else the flowers will look flat. And actually they don't look bad even when flat, they just look better when they're more 3-dimentional. It will make it easier to fold the petals if you score the petals first.

I've only put the sentiment "Celebrate" on the front of the card. And to celebrate a birthday, I've added a birthday sentiment to the inside of the card, but really, you can use this card for any occasion by just substituting it with a more appropriate sentiment.

This card was created for the Friday Sketchers Challenge #52. Took me a while trying to figure out how to do this one.

This is Claudia Rosa's sketch that she's provided for the challenge. Took me a while trying to figure out how to do this one. I went searching for the tallest Tilda image that I could find to fill up that space where the image is suppose to go on. Found this one that I haven't use before, Tilda Holding Balloons.

Let me tell you that this image was not meant to be cut out. Have you ever tried to cut around a piece of string? Painstakingly time consuming!!!!! I can't believe I actually did it...well not all of it. But you know, if had to do this one all over again, I probably would have done the same thing--hee hee hee..... silly me!

I made the top semi-circle smaller than the bottom one, because I wanted to have some room at the top right hand corner to put some flowers there. My sister tells me that I have to improve on my flowers--I've been guilty of using the same type over and over. I have to use different varieties!!! So here you go, Sis!

Happy Sunday! Hope you're having a wonderful weekend.

I've just finished another card. I'm quite pleased of how this one turned out. Going to be hard to mail this one out.

This week's challenge at Cute Card Thursday: "Challenge 60 -- Letters and Numbers. Please include letters or numbers on your creations this week!" Perfect! I have to create a 5oth birthday card and wanted to have a huge number 50 on it.

Here's the card.


The number zero is simply cut out using my Coluzzle oval template. The number five takes a bit more work. No template, oh boy--I had to draw this one out by hand first and then cut it out with a craft knife.

This is the first time I've included stiching on my cards. Hey, I like doing this. I'll have to do more stiching, but I think I have to adjust the tension on my sewing machine first. You probably can't tell here but I can see those bottom threads peeking up, hee hee. I've added a couple of those punched-out swirls and attached some pearls and blings. And voila!

This card is for the Papertake Weekly Challenge:

"Animal Antics! - This weeks challenge is to feature animals somewhere on your cards! Cute Elzybells bears, Penny Black hedgehogs - elegant butterflies - whatever you like! lol"

For all the Magnolia addicts, sorry to disappoint here. Before I became a Tilda addict myself and before I started blogging, there was a period of time when I was crazy about birds. So I have all these bird stamps that I thought I better make use of.

I'm using one of my favorite colour combinations here, blue (teal blue?) and brown. And just one designer paper. It's double sided. One side of the card is the design of the front of the DP--I've torn-edged it. The other side of the card is using the back of the DP and I've stamped flower images on it.

The four bird images are stamped and embossed with embossing powder (melted with a heat gun).

The inside pf the card is very simple. The sentiments and the hummingbird are stamped and embossed in the same way as those in front.

Woo hoo, the weekend is coming up and not only that it's a long weekend for us, as Monday is a statutory holiday here--Victoria Day.

This latest card is for Kellie's Magnolia Down Under Challenge # 11.
By the way, Kellie's got a blog candy going until May 23/09. She's celebrating her 20,000 hits. It seems like it was just yesterday that she was celebrating her 10,000 hits. Wow, you go girl! I've also got a link to her blog on the sideboard.
Now to the challenge. This week's theme is 'Thinking of You'.
I'm finally using a Tilda image from the Magnolia Chasing Butterflies collection. This one is called Spring Tilda. It's the one that I think have the least to do with butterflies in that collection. Really, you can use this one for any occasion.

I was looking for a sketch to use for this card and happen to come across an old December sketch at Magnolia-licious. And here's the inside of the card. (Ooooh, if you look closely at the sentiments, both at the front and inside of the card, there are actually butterflies flying among the words. LOL.)

A card for ...

Happy Wednesday to all!

Too many things to do and going on this week that delays me from working at my craft table--that's called life I guess, hee hee. At least I've got my small veggie garden plot all set up for the year, I think. I should get a good crop of strawberries this year. My dozen or so plants are flowering. It'll be a matter of who gets to the strawberries first, me or the slugs. LOL.

Anyway, back to what we love doing! Making cards. I have actually received new Magnolia stamps--woo hoo--so I have new Tilda images to play with. But I had started this card prior to receiving the new stamps, so I'm working with this older image, the Traveler Tilda. Have also chosen to use softer colours for this card.

This is the wonderful sketch provided by Carole for the the Friday Sketchers Challenge Week 51. It's also their one-year anniversary, so Happy 1st to the DT members there.

I should try something different for the inside of my card. I've seen some really really nice styles that the others are using. But for now, it's like this.

Mother's Day #2

A happy Sunday morning to everyone and a special Mother's Day greeting to all the mothers out there.

I'm being sneaky with this card by posting it at the eleventh hour. This is another Mother's Day card. I've made this one for my sister--I think she's an amazing mother to my two nieces. A little problem with this card is I don't want my sister to see it before she gets it--she visits my blog. I'll be giving it to her at lunch today. I'm hoping she won't boot up her computer this morning, so the card will be a surprise. LOL.

Here's the card I've created.

I am using this fabulous sketch provided at the Ismaki challenge blog. This is a new blog for me. I like this sketch--sooo...many details, so it did take longer than usual.

I'm using the Tilda with garland in her hair, sooo.... adorable. The other stamp images I've used, the butterfly swirl, the border image at the left and the Mother's Day, are all stamped using Colorbox colonial blue pigment ink stamp pad and I've added clear embossing powder on them (melted with a heat gun) to make the images stand out more.

I ended up using the 3 pure white flower near the top left corner. I initally had other coloured flowers there, but they looked buried against the dark background. The white flowers stand out more.

And the card inside looks like this.

The butterfly swirl image is the same one I used in front, stamped and embossed the same way.

Mother's Day

A happy Thursday!

I've finally got Mother's Day card done for my Mom. Phew...what a relief! This is also for Magnolia Down Under Challenge #10, whose theme this week just happens to be: Mother's Day Card.

And I'm using the sketch here provide for Week 3 of Just Magnolia Challenge Blog.

I was going to use the Tilda with Tulips image since I haven't used it yet since I got the stamp a few weeks ago, but everybody seems to be using that for their Mother's Day. People might be tired at looking at it for now, so I went looking for another Tilda image with flowers in it. I have only 3 for now and found this is one that I haven't used yet, Tilda Holding Crowsfeet Flowers.

I lucked out in finding the Mother's Day stamp while I was browsing through one of those dollar stores. I'm surprised sometimes by what I find in there. I think I got it for abour $3. The oval is cut out using a Coluzzle template and the tiny scallop edges is done by using one of those decorative scissor. Not always easy to do--you just sort of have to hope that you ended up cutting at the same place where you started the initial cut. Everything else is sort of self-explanatory I think. And this is the inside of the card.

Another card done!! I'm loving this--my collection is slowly growing.

Beatrix has provided this wonderful sketch to follow for this week’s challenge at the Friday Sketchers Challenge blog. It's their challenge #50--Wow, Happy 50th by the way! (Almost your one-year anniversary!)

You have to excuse my using this Tilda image from the Winter Collection 2008, but I just got the stamp and this Tilda is soooo….. adorable that I just had to use her right away on a card. With the exception of her gloved hand, it doesn’t really look wintery does it? Ah…doesn’t really matter!

And the inside of my card looks like this: Now that that's done, on to a card for my Mom. Mother's Day is coming up this Sunday!!!

I finally got one card done this weekend. You'd think I'd have all that free time away from work to make cards. But oh no.....where did the time go? Too many household chores, I'd say! And I still have not attend to my little vegetable garden plot!!!

This card that I was working on is for Cute Card Thursday Challenge 58. Their theme this week: Mirror, Mirror. Use something shiny!

The sketch I'm using will look familiar as it's actually the one that Suzanne Dean provided for the March Sketch for Magnolia-licious.
Here's the card:

I've put lots of shiny stuff--mostly rhinestones: the three brown ones at the top left hand corner and tiny blue ones at the centre of each dandelions on the square DP in the middle. I've also given Tilda's white blouse a shimmery look with a glue stick pen and some transparent micro-fine glitter. Hope you can see that in the close-up picture.

I've added more clear rhinestones to each scallop of the borders that are in the inside of the card. And the blue line between the 2 papers, that's more work with glue stick pen and blue micro-fine glitter.

I've made another card and this one is for the Magnolia Down Under Challenge #9. This weeks theme: Spot the Dots….

I was at Michaels going through their bargain aisle. They've got these cheap packages of scrapbook papers for $1.50 and there are 8 sheet of paper in each package. Honest! Admittedly the papers are very thin, thinner than your normal DP. Well you know...you get what you pay for--LOL. But a couple of the designs fits the theme of challenge, so at that price why not! I've kept this card very simple.
