A lantern to light the way

Happy weekend!

A new challenge for Magnolia Down Under Challenge!

It is our Challenge #26 and the challenge is the following sketch from Shell Barnard:

And this is sponsored by Kellie herself. She is offering a $10 Gift Voucher to spend in her very own newly-opened Magnolia Only store. That's Aussie dollars, guys--go for it!!! And you have 2 weeks to create something.

The sketch wasn't really meant for it, hee hee, but I used it to make a joy fold card--artistic licence!! I had the hardest time trying to finish this card. I kept fiddling with it even after I thought I was finished. It just wasn't looking right... But I think I'm done playing with it now.

I also made this card for Stamp With Fun. Their Challenge #31 is to make a card with a scene. I have created two scenes here. The stamps for the background sceneries, Alota Side Wall with Window and the Magnolia Brick Wall, I purchased from Diana's store Magnolia-licious.

For Week 7 at Basic Grey Challenges, it is a photo-inspiration challenge. The picture is over to the right, here.
It was so obvious to me what Basic Grey DP I was going to use. Any guesses, LOL?

It's a "Bring out your bling" challenge at All Sorts Challenge--they want to see lots of sparkles. I didn't use any rhinestone, but I have lots of sparkles on the card. The ribbon on the front of the card is a sparkly red and gold ribbon. I've put glitters on the angel wings of both Tilda and Edwin. And also on the the white-fur trims of all the hats for Tilda, the critter and the pooch.
Hmm... not sure if you can see that in the pictures. You might have to blow the pictures up to really see.
The final challenge is from Roses on Paper. Their Challenge # 24 is for a Christmas card.

I've put a blank space on the left panel for personal messages to be written on.
Thank you so much for visiting my blog. And for those of you who leave me a comment, a double thank you. I really do appreciate it. Enjoy your weekend!

Life is Sweet

Hello. Happy Friday!

I've made a card for 3 challenges.

This is the sketch that I've used from Sketch Saturday, provided for their Challenge #64.

And for Penny Black Saturday Challenge, this is Week 62 for them. ...this week's challenge which is a colour combo
BLUE.....TAN & CREAM.

Ahha you say! There’s none of those adorable creatures from Penny Black on the card. I used a couple of other stamps instead: the duo of flowers and a sentiment for inside the card.

The 3rd challenge is from Cupcake Craft Challenges. They're celebrating their 1st birthday. "...this weeks brilliant challenge which has been chosen to coincide with our 1st birthday celebrations and the theme is something sweet. There is also an optional extra to include a cupcake."

I do have a standing Tilda image holding a cupcake in my collection. But I wanted to use a sitting Tilda instead, that I could perch at the edge of that oval cut-out. So this Magnolia image is actually the Tilda With Bee. I sent the bee buzzing bye bye. I stamped a Tilda With Cupcake image on a scrap piece of cardstock and cut out the cupcake with the hand holding it. I glued that to the spot where the bee used to be. Turned out real well I thought. Okay, okay, the hand-and-the-cupcake image is actually a smidgen too big, but I couldn’t tell that until I took a picture of the card and see it in my posting here. Oh well.

The flower is actually perfect for doing decoupage. No time to do it for this card, but I will do that the next time.

TGIF. Have a wonderful weekend! Thanks for stopping by. And I appreciate any and all comments.

Stamps: Penny Black "T for Transparent" Flower Gallery (duo flowers) and Enjoy Life (sentiment inside of card), Hampton Art{Foot Long} Cupcakes (Life is Sweet sentiment and cupcake).DP's: Fiskars Heidi Grace Designs Meadow Flower Decor, Chatterbox Scrapbook Walls Courtyard Blossoms, the tan colour dp with flowers - unknown maker.
Tools: Fiskards border punch Flowers.
Embelishments: Kaiser Craft pearls.

Celebrate today

Happy Thursday!

Here is the latest card I've created.

This card was made using this wonderful sketch from Sketch Saturday Challenge blog, their sketch # 55.

It is also for Penny Black Saturday Challenge blog. They are celebrating their one-year birthday (Happy 1st Birthday ladies!), so their theme this week is: Celebrations.

And... a third challenge here. Simon Says Stamp Challenge Blog is also celebrating their one-year birthday (Happy Birthday to the ladies there too!). So this is my entry for their similar challenge for this week, which is: Let's Celebrate.

This Penny Black clear-stamp set that I've recently bought was a great find for me. There are 5 images and a few sentiments in it. I've found that most of the time when I buy a set, only a few of the images appeals to me and the rest I can do without--LOL. But in this set I like all 5 images--they are very cute.

For the inside of the card, I used 2 more of the stamps from the set.

See, aren't those hedgehogs just adorable? They are the hedgehogs from the earlier years, I think.

Have a wonderful day! Thanks for stopping by, and would appreciate a comment to tell me what you think of the card.

Stamps: Penny Black T for transparent stamp set Tiny Wishes, Stampendous perfectly clear stamp set Everything Happy, Hero Arts F1843 Time to Enjoy.
DP: Me & My Bid Idea value pack paper pad Fashion District.
Tools: EK Success corner punch, Martha Stewart border punches.

Ladybug, ladybug ...

A good Monday morning to all! I haven't been very productive in making cards these last few days. I was occupied with making a gate. (What's that, you say? You can read about it at the end of this post if you're interested.)

Anyway I managed to get at least one card done. Finished this one last night.

This card was done using this wonderful sketch provide by Heidi for the Friday Sketchers #53
challenge.
I'm using the Tilda with Ladybug image from the Chasing Butterflies Collection--she's just sooo.... adorable.
I also remembered that I have a similar stamp from Penny Black with a hedgehog holding a ladybug. So I've added that image to the card and made this card for the Penny Black Saturday Challenge also. Their Challenge 50 for this week is: Buttons Galore.
And I've done the inside of the card this way.
Now to that gate I was talking about. You can skip this part by the way-- nothing to do with cards. I have a small garden plot in a community garden, measured 4 feet x 12 feet. There are 5 sections of about a dozen plots in each. My plot is in Section 5. Each section is fenced in, but there's a garden gate that you go through. Our gate was literally falling apart and I've volunteered to make a new gate, as I'm somewhat handy with a hammer and nails. (I wonder whose bright idea that was!!!! LOL) Anyway, that's what I've been busy with these past few days.

I've taken a picture of the new gate. I took it at an angle so my plot is showing in the background. It's the one with that huge bush of rhubarbs (in front of the car) and you can see the purple flowers from the chives.
Well, I did say you can skip this part.

Have a wonderful day. I'm off to work!

Stamps: Magnolia #346 Tilda with Ladybug, Penny Black T for Transparent clear stamp set Bubbles.
DP: Hot Off the Press Jacie's Vintage Papers.
Tools: Martha Steward punch Ladybug.

Think Spring

First of all...woohoo!!! I made Top 3 Pick at last week's challenge of Magnolia Down Under Challenges. A big thanks to Kellie and her DT ladies. My heart's been smiling since I found out. A grin on my face. (Zippity doo da zippity ay...my, oh my, what a wonderful day...)

Okay, now to my next card. This is for the Penny Black Saturday Challenge. Think Spring!! this time. But, but...I've already made a Spring card and I did use a Penny Black stamp for it. It would have been perfect!! But it was for another challenge. Rats! So, I'll have to make another one. (In case you've missed that other Spring card, see my Mar. 21/09 posting or click here.)

This is my 2nd Happy Spring card:

Cute stamp I thought. The name of the stamp is "in a pot". LOL.

I do decorate the inside of all my cards, although I haven't taken any pictures of them. I have with this one.

I decorate it very simply really. Just the two side bars, with the same dp that I use in front. Then I'll add a stamped image or sentiment on each. The middle of the card I usually leave blank so I can add a verse, a poem, or a personal message or note.

That's it! Hope you like this one.

(I just checked my e-mail and got a surprise. Another woohoo! Will tell about it tomorrow.)

Stamps: Penny Black 3465F in a pot, Autumn Leaves Clear Stamps Spring Swirl, (inside card) t for transparent 30-012 Bubbly and 30-013 Critter Party

Happy Spring - Bloom

A happy Sunday to everyone!

I’ve finished my card for the Mojo Monday Week 78 sketch challenge. I’m cutting it a bit close here. I have to post this today before they close their Mr. Linky.

This is the sketch to be used:

This sketch simply cries out to me to make a waterfall card. If you’ve never made this type of card, it takes a bit more planning, but it’s fun to do. And what’s more, it’s fun for the recipient--he/she can play with it!!

This is the card I came up with:

To see how this card works, see this 14-second video:

If you're like me, as when I first saw a waterfall card, you'll just want to go to your craft table and create one yourself. I learned how to make this type of card a few years ago. There are any number of websites that give you the tutorial on how to do this. Just google it.
Hope you're enjoying your weekend. Bye!
