Fun in the Sun - Magnolia-licious 'Sun, Sea and Sand'

Hello.

Today being the second Tuesday of the month, it's time to start a new challenge at the Magnolia-licious Challenge Blog.  The new theme is 'Sun, Sea and Sand.'   To get complete details of the challenge and how you can join in the fun, visit the Magnolia-licious Challenge Blog site.  Don't forget to check out what my DT teammates have created to inspire you to play along with us.

Here's what I've created as my DT card for the challenge--a tri-shutter card.

I haven't made one of these for a while--I love fancy-fold cards.  You can find the template for this Tri-Shutter Card HERE, if you're interested.

The scroll design corners were diecut and the sandcastle borders, starfish and crab were punched out using punches.  Other than those, the rest of the embellishments were cut out by hand.

When laid-out flat, the card measures 6" x 12", but it folds to 6" x 4" for easy mailing.

Here are close-ups of the adorable Magnolia Stamps images...(list of marker colours listed below)

A Fairy Happy Birthday - GDT Card for Crealies

Hello.

I've been asked to be a Guest DT for Crealies by Annelies, owner of Crealies...woo-hoo.
Crealies has just released some new Create-A-Card and Crea-Nest-Lies dies--check them out HERE-- and I'll be showcasing a few of them on my GDT cards.

Here's the first GDT card that I came up with.

When it's folded, the card measures 3½" x 5¼" or 9.0cm x 13.5cm, so it will fit into a medium-size envelope--you just need to worry about the thickness of your card...hee hee.

When you unfold the card, you can then see its multi-fold feature.

Fully spread out, the length of the card is 10 5/8" or 27cm.

This adorable little fairy being featured is from Mo's Digital Pencil designed by Mo Manning,

and it is only one of the fairies from a set called 3 Baby Fairies.  I have coloured the image with markers and a few coloured pencils to help with the shading.  I've added glitter to the wings.

As mentioned before, I am showcasing some Crealies dies and here are the list of dies I have used:

- Crealies Create-A-Card No. 7
- Crealies Crea-Nest-Lies XXL No. 15
- Crealies Set of 3 Flowers No. 4
- Crealies Creative Shapes No. 16 (leaves)
- Crealies Creative Border No. 17

Check out the rest of Crealies dies at the Crealies on-line store, HERE.

And you may also want to check out the Crealies Blog, HERE.

Challenges I am entering with this card:

Hello.  Happy middle of the week!

It's time for another "W"ednesday Posts at the Magnolia-licious Challenge.  "W"ednesday postings are where the DT gals take turns showcasing the other stamps beside Magnolia stamps that the Magnolia-licious on-line store carries--images from Wee Stamps, Wild Rose Studio, Penny Black and CandiBeans. It's Dena and I who are participating today.

And so...this was the card that I made.

This is the view when it's all folded up....

Celebrate...it's your day! - Magnolia-licious 'Celebrations'

Hello!

We're midway into our current challenge at the Magnolia-licious Challenge Blog.  The challenge theme is 'Celebrations'.  It's Team B's turn to post our inspirational cards/projects, so hop over to the Magnolia-licious Challenge Blog to see what my DT teammates have created and also to get the details for the challenge and how you can join in the fun.

Here's my DT card for the challenge...

But just wait for a sec...this is only the view of the card front, when the card is all folded up.  This is actually a tri-shutter card.

I altered the measurements of the original tri-fold shutter card and made another version of the card.

This gives me not quite a full panel for the card front but still a bigger front panel than the original tri-shutter card.

Here are a few new Magnolia stamps that I finally got around to colouring.  And I've coloured these images with markers.

- Elephant Show Tilda from the Little Moscow Collection 2013
- Miss Dorothy (the elephant) from the Little Moscow Collection 2013

- Tilda in Evening Dress from the Little Moscow Collection 2013

The stamps for these images are available from Magnolia-licious, where Diana carries a large selection of both full-size and mini Magnolia stamps.  And if you don't see the particular one you are looking for, ask Diana if she can bring it in for you.  Check out also the stamps from Wee Stamps, Wild Rose Studios, Penny Black and CandibeansMagnolia-licious also carries cutting dies from various companies.  Have look at the *new* exquisite dies from Memory Box and PoppyStamps.
Prices are discounted, you get excellent customer service and what's more, you get to earn 2% credit to be applied to future purchases.  Sweet!

Here's one of the dies that you can get from Magnolia-licious:
for the purple flowers, I used these dies...

Sweet Wishes for Debbie - FFFC #94

Hello! Happy Friday!

It's a new challenge at Fussy and Fancy Friday Challenge Blog.  And this time, woo-hoo...it's my turn to host it.  For the theme, I've chosen...More Than One Fold or Fancy Folds (e.g. gate-fold cards, tri-shutter cards, side-step cards, stair-step cards, diamond-fold cards, etc.).  I just love the not-so-ordinary cards and I'm hoping I'll get to see a type of folds that I haven't seen before and I get something new to play around with...LOL.  Anyway, for more details on the challenge and how to join in the fun, hop over to Fussy and Fancy Friday Challenge. Have a look at the fabulous cards that my DT teammates have created for inspirations.

For my DT card, I am showing you this birthday card that I made for my friend Debbie down under in Aussie land--hope she liked it.  This first view is of just the card front when the card is all folded up.

When opened it's a type of a tri-shutter card.

It's not of the more popular basic tri-shutter card.  This one has different cuts and folds giving me a full panel for the card front.

I am featuring a couple of adorable Tilda images from Magnolia:

- Tilda With Little Pocket from the With Love Collection 2013
- Tilda With Love from the With Love Collection 2013

Diana's on-line store, Magnolia-licous, is an excellent source for your Magnolia stamps.  Diana carries a large selection of both the full size and mini stamps.  And if you don't see the particular one you are looking for, contact Diana and ask her if she can bring it in for you.
Check out the selection of Wee Stamps by Sylvia Zet, and Wild Rose Studio stamps.
Prices are discounted.  Along with excellent customer service, you get to earn 2% in-store credit of every order which you can apply to future purchases.  Sweet!

Up on Cloud No. 9

Hello! Happy Tuesday!

A new inspirational challenge for December at the Magnolia-licious Challenge Blog. One week earlier! Don't worry though if you're still working on a project for last week's colour challenge, because that one is still open for another week. So we have the 2 challenges open at the same time for an entire week. We're starting this today, so we can concentrate on Christmas as we get closer to the big day. This new challenge will run until January 10, 2011, the day before January's first colour challenge. This is Chrissy's month and she has chosen the theme white-on-white--at least that is how I interpreted it, so I went with that in mind...LOL.

I had wanted to do something like the card below ever since I saw all the Tilda angels in the pre-order list, but what I had imagined in my mind was...navy night sky, golden moon and stars. Hmm...maybe I will still do that at a later date. But for now, this being a white-on-white theme, this is a tri-shutter card that I came up with.

In keeping with the white theme I did consider having the angels wearing white robes, but colouring white is not something I have learned to do very well...sigh...and to do it for 3 images!!! Yikes...I quickly abandoned that idea. I opted for colours for their robes instead...LOL. And besides I really really wanted to colour those striped tights. I love it when Tilda is wearing her striped socks or tights...tee hee, they are so cute.

This is what my card looks like if I flattenned it out.

These 3 adorable angels are from Magnolia's new A Merry Little Christmas Collection 2010. They are Starlight Tilda (in yellow), Angel Tilda (in dusty rose) and Sitting Angel Tilda (in blue). This last one is my favorite image from this collection--she looks like an angel with a little bit of naughtiness in her...LOL. These angels are available from Magnolia-licious, Diana's online store for anything Magnolia (and much more).

If you haven't made a tri-shutter card before, this is an overhead view of the card. There are quite a few tutorials on the internet. Here is a link to just one of those tri-shutter card tutorials.

What I was trying to do was paint a picture in white. I wanted to make it more 3 dimentional with embossed images and 3-D embellishments to create the background for the angels.

This is what my star looked like before I covered it up with glitter.
I used white bristol board paper. I have a Sizzix die cuts (Stars #2) that cut out 4 different sizes of stars: the smallest one, the 3rd largest one and 2 others in between those 2 sizes. The rest of the stars--there are 9 stars in total--I cut them out by hand using a ruler and a craft knife. I made them in 1/8-inch increments until I have the star big enough for Tilda to sit on.
(Doesn't she look like she's hanging on for her dear life to that star? LOL. Not too worry--if she falls, she's got wings!!)

I have tried to do the same thing with the crescent moon--I didn't do as good a job here though...LOL.

I have used the Spellbinders Nestabilities circle die cuts for the moon. I started out with cutting out whole circles. I used the largest size circle die cut that I have for the first one, and then going smaller after that. There are 7 circles in total. Their diameters are in 1/8-inch increments, so I had to cut some of the circles out by hand--no Nesties for those sizes.

To make this into a crescent moon--so Tilda have something to sit on--I used a smaller circle die cut for the hole/opening in each of the 7 circles. I used the same size on each and made sure that at one point, the edge of the smaller circle met the edge of the large circle. When I gluing the circles together one by one, I lined them up by this hole/opening.

I used lots of glitter on this card. I've added them to the moon, the big star, the angels' wings, the star at the end of Tilda's wand and her halo.

I am using this card as my entry into the following challenges:

Simon Says Stamp! - Christmas, but no red and green.
Flutterby Wednesday Challenge 134 - Anything goes.
Just Magnolia Week 85 - A Christmas card.
ABC DT Challenge - Non-traditional holiday colours.

Creative Inspirations Challenge 49 - Anything goes Christmas.
Stamp With Fun Challenge #89 - Christmas.
Cupcake Craft Challenge 121 - Non-traditional Christmas (colours).

I hope you will join us in our Challenge. Diana is generously offering a $25 gift certificate from her store Magnolia-licious as the prize. And please check out the fabulous cards and projects that the other DT ladies had created for the challenge. The links to their personal blogs are on my side bar.

Are you finished with you Christmas cards yet for this season? I am NOT. Even if I am though, I will probably will still be making them into the New Year. While I am in this Christmasy/holiday mood, what better time than now to start on next year's list...LOL...when I have all these ideas and inspirations around me. And actually I do like to work on them all year long.
I know your time is precious especially in this busy time of year, so thanks much for dropping by. I appreciate the visit. Have a wonderful week. Let's hope we can find time to relax a bit and get recharged before tackling the next task on our to-do list...LOL.
