Thinking of You

Hello! It's the second Tuesday of the month and it's time for a new challenge at the Magnolia-licious Challenge Blog.

Woo-hoo...I'm the hostess for this month of May and for this colour challenge I've chosen one of my favorite colour combos: black and white plus one other colour. Here's my DT card.


When I first thought of using this colour scheme, I thought I would probably choose for my other colour either red, pink or purple. Then I bought this DP that the craft store was clearing out--it's part of a Halloween paper collection...heh heh. I like the shade of green and I thought it looks good combined with the black. It's sort of a medium olive green. Hmm...I've thought of a more elegant name for this...chatreuse green--yeah, that sounds better! LOL. The combo is a bit out of the ordinary, but I like trying new stuff.


I've used this Magnolia image called Tilda With Butterfly Jeans from their Butterfly Dreams Collection 2011. It is available from Magnolia-licous on-line store, as well as the other stamps that I've used on this card. For the background, I used Lazy Summer Flowers from the Lazy Summer Days Collection 2009 and the sentiment stamp is Just Sittin' Here Thinking of You.

As with most of my Tildas, I've cut her out and mounted her on pieces of foam tape to give the card a more 3-dimensional look. I've added some stickles to the butterfly on her jeans. I've decorated the underside of the card front with more of the DP and a blank space to write personal messages.

Marker Storage

Sorry, no card today, but oh, look, look!!! Look at what I made. Woo-hooooo....don't you love it?

My craft table is neat and tidy right now, but we'll see how long that will last...LOL.


I've had this idea of a storage box for my markers for well over a year, but only got around to making it now. I got so frustrated because when I work, my markers are all over the place on my table that I have hardly any clear space to work on...LOL.

It's actually not hard to make that now I wonder why I kept putting it off.

I used this type of CD rack to make the shelves. I bought mine at Lee Valley Tools. (Link to their catalogue item if you're interested here.)


If I place a CD jewel case on every other rail for the shelves, then the space in between 2 shelves is just right for my markers. The CD cases you can buy at your dollar store for about 25 cents each--even at Future Shop they work out to about 40 cents each.


You can make this as wide as you need. One tower measures 10 3/4 inches high and 5 1/8 inches wide. You just have to make a box to accommodate that height and the width of the number of towers you want, in the inside of your box. I used 2 pine boards (4-ft long, 5 1/4" wide, 3/4" thick) which I bought at Home Depot. I have a scroll saw to cut the 2 end pieces and then I just screwed them in place. I used a foam board to cover the back. Hmmm...I bet you can make the whole thing with just foam boards--so much easier!

I have 3 types of markers: Letraset Promarkers, ShiHan Touch markers and Letraset Pantone Tria markers. The barrels of all these 3 brands are of about the same size. You can fit seven markers in each shelf. There are 10 shelves within a pair of CD rails, so each set can accommodate 70 markers.


I don't have any Copic markers, but I think the Copic Markers are the same size as the Touch markers, so this will work just fine for them. I don't know about the Sketch or the Ciao markers, though. I do believe they are slimmer in size, are they not?

OMG, I didn't realize I had so many markers until I had them laid out like this. Wait a minute though! I didn't spend as much money as you think!!! I only buy markers when they are on SALE...LOL...I am a cheapskate!

The Letraset Pantone Tria markers were the first ones in my collection--they are my favorites. I started with them when my local art store DeSerres (formerly Loomis Art Store) had a clearance sale. Little did I know that they were clearing them because they were being discontinued. Boo hoo hoo...I cried when I found out. But hey, I stocked up on all the colours that I could get. The markers were about $.099 - $1.29--woo-hoo...almost like they were giving them away--I was like a kid in a candy store!!!

The Promarkers are what replace the Pantone Trias I believe. I could be wrong, but it's the same barrel size and similar nibs. The Promarkers and the Touch markers, when they are on sale, are about $2 - $2.39 each.

Three-Easel Card

Happy Tuesday everyone! It's the 4th Tuesday of the month which means it's a new inspiration challenge at the Magnolia-licious Challenge Blog. Here's what I've created for my DT card. Do you like it?


Oh, I had such a hard time with this challenge. This is the picture that Pat, our hostess for the month of April has provided for the inspiration.


I couldn't think of what to make--a mind block, until the eleventh hour I think. In desperation I just went with the 2-Tilda theme.



This here is Tilda With an Armful of Tulips from the Butterfly Dreams Collection 2011 from Magnolia.
Hey, I think I'm getting better with my clouds..hee hee. But yuk, I really have to work on adding the grass. Right now I suck at it...LOL.

The other Tilda I've used is also from the same collection and this one is called Tilda With Her Bunny.


Ooh, both of these images are sooo... adorable, as are the rest of the Butterfly Dreams Collection 2011 that I just can't get enough of them. They are all available from Magnolia-licious on-line store.


In the process of making this card, I've a created a new type of card...woo-hoo. Or rather, I think have. What do you think? I haven't seen this type of card before, have you? You guys please let me know if you have. Please.



In the meantime, I am calling this a Three-Easel Card. It is actually 2 cards in one. The base is a gate fold card with a centre opening. You mountain-fold both side panels in half, thus you have easel #1 and easel #2. (Hint: you really really really have to put pressure on these folds because they tend to unfurl.)

Then inside the card, centered, is a mini easel card--this is your easel #3. So three-easel card!


I was trying to stay with the 2-Tilda theme, so I left the left easel image-less. And also I was rushing to finish this card...LOL. Hmm...I think I will add some punched butterflies here and there.

It's 25th of the month, so it's time for a Christmas card for the Christmas All Year Long Blog Hop (thank you to Julie for organizing it). Our group is part of the Magnolia-licious Yahoo Group. Our air is to produce a Christmas card on every 25th of each month so that by the time Christmas comes around, we have at least eleven less card to make. I have already missed one month...sigh. I think I have to make up another card to make up...LOL.

This is what I have made for my Christmas creation. I have combined a full-size Tilda with 3 mini ones.


The panels were made with Spellbinders Nestabilities Labels Twenty. The letters were made with Fiskars template.

The panels can be folded up (for easy mailing...LOL) and I have decorated the front of the card like this.

I've used my markers to colour these images. Although the minis take less time to colour than the regular-sized one, I'm finding it a tad difficult because the spaces are so small. I think I will try to colour them with my coloured pencils next time.

Oh I feel so bad when I don't have something to post for a while, but sometimes I'm just finding it hard to find the time to finish off my current project. Sound familiar?...LOL. But finally! Finally, I've finished this Easter card.

This is a side step card--I like to call it a front-panel side step card. I love this type of cards. I want to do many more of them, but...got to find the time!!! And I keep finding other new types of cards that I want to try...sigh.

This is Beautiful Tilda and isn't she just that? I think of her as a butterfly fairy. She is from Magnolia's new Butterfly Dreams Collection 2011--ooh...I am just so loving this collection !!! This image/stamp is available from Magnolia-licious on-line store.

As with most of my Tilda's, I've stamped the image, coloured it and then cut it out (and the butterfly also). I stamped a second image, roughly coloured it and then did the background around the image. The cut-out Tilda and butterfly were then mounted on pieces of foam tape (or dimensionals).

Hey, how do you like the sky in the background? Annika has a fabulous tutorial on how to colour sky/clouds with Copics. I followed her instructions, but of course I used my Promarkers instead. More practicing to be done...


This is a new type of easel card they call a twisted easel card. I thought I had to try this out at least once to see if I like it...LOL. I still prefer the regular easel card though. However if you're interested in making this type of card, Pam Sparks has a wonderful tutorial (click here).

Hello Little Butterfly

Hello everyone! Finally I have another card to show you. I love butterflies, I love flowers and I love spring. What's not to love!!!

The flowers are hand-made. I know they don't look too realistic because IRL they wouldn't all be facing towards you and I should have buds towards the top--hey, I'm still learning...LOL. I've added bits of yellow glitter glue to the butterflies.

I made this card using this wonderful sketch from Totally Gorjuss Challenge 74.

Creatalicious Challenges - Challenge 20 is asking for 2 colours/tones. I've tried to restrict myself to using just blue and green only. Even all the DP's only have the blue and/or green colours. But I've got bits of yellow there for the butterfly and grey for the stones. White doesn't count, does it? Oh well...
